Damon,
ATSC tuners re about the same size as the NTSC..
Newer sets will have the one input...the signal will go to the proper
path..Quam, DCR, etc.

Most HD ready sets have the HD logo on the front of the TV
and component inputs on the back for the Y-Pr-PB signal...or DVI too.

HD sets have the ATSC tuners...which is a large sattelite-box-sized assembly
jammed into the back of the set, it's pretty obvious when you see one. Those
are due out in 2006 on......Is it all models?? Or the 27" or 30" and above??

Another confusing point thanks to the FCC's wording.

| HD-ready means just that...capable of displaying HD signal.
| I've had customers assume they bought a HD set..
| I think most sets now are being produced with dual tuners...
| Also, new FCC law...new HD sets are to be "digital cable ready". This
meaning, you will not need a cable
| box to get subscription channels..there will be a slot in the back for a
cable card you get from most
| major cable suppliers.
| I got a HD receiver set top box with my cable ready and HD signals are
awesome...even DVD movies look
| great.

| Just think...if it's confusing for us...how do you think the customer
feels.
| Had a guy here a few weeks ago, thought he had bought a HD set, 5
years
| ago. Now...what is a HD set, and a HD Ready set. Do they need to buy some
| adaptor when they want to go true HD. Like when RCA came out with their
| Stereo Adaptors for some of the sets in 85.;-)
|
| Like Wayne said...when you see true HD, you will know it.;-)
| Up to now only place I have seen True HD is in the stores trying to sell
it.
|
| Even there I'm not sure, since we have no stations in the area
| transmitting True HD.
