Difference between Sattelite and Cable is transmission type or style.....Cable uses QAM (or Sattelite uses QAM) and the other uses....something else which I can't remember.....starts with a V....anyways you need a card on both to recieve the HD signals, and you have to buy the HD programming.....all signals no matter what are up-converted to 1080i, since the TV's sweep circuits do not change horiz/vert rates......Sony has the best training on this matter..... Now Cable presently has NTSC (non digital) and Digital (non Hi Def) and Digital (Hi Def) programming....and a lot of your customers will wonder why their picture looks crappy, so get ready to confuse them even more.... We only have the PBS | station in HD OTA here, and FOX in 480p from about 40 miles away, but we | have had sat HD for several years, and cable HD for about a year. The | HD | stuff generally looks very good unless it gets compressed or the signal | drops out. The OTA stuff from PBS is quite impressive. I pick up one | HD | and one SD feed with a loop inside the shop, where I hardly get a signal | from the NTSC channels. If the signal is there it is great. Sometimes | with | weather I get it freezing and pixelating, but even the SD digital is far | better than the reception on the standard channels. | | Lots of options and lots of capability make anything more confusing | until | you learn it. | | Leonard Caillouet | Electronics World | 1261 NW 76 Blvd | Gainesville, FL 32606 | 352-332-5608 | FAX 352-332-5668 | | | ----- Original Message ----- | From: "Edward Gaidies" <teltek3@xxxxxxxxxxxx> | To: <techassist@xxxxxxxxxxxxx> | Sent: Saturday, September 04, 2004 7:27 AM | Subject: [TechAssist] Re: Hitachi 53UWX10BA No video/sound is rushing | noise | | | > Just think...if it's confusing for us...how do you think the customer | feels. | > Had a guy here a few weeks ago, thought he had bought a HD set, 5 | years | > ago.
