In the '80s after a typhoon messed up Hawaii the Navy did put a Nuclear 
powered submarine in an area were they connected the ships power to the 
power grid for about a week.

The problem is that when you connect the power goes everywhere.  So you 
have to make sure that the only things hooked up are what are supposed 
to be.  Otherwise you load the system, you can cause fires, and kill people.
