Mode switch is not cleaned properly or is defective. The internal fingers that contact the trace may not have enough tension. I cleaned the audio control head , mode switch and replaced the end sensors and center led but got no luck . The vc93 test tape shows the control pulse is there and doesn't appear to have a servo problem . It doesn't seem to be out of time as it loads and unloads ok . The capastan motor is operating at fast forward speed in the play position . Does anyone have a suggestion on what I could try next . Thanks again . Barry Appleby .
