Mode switch is not cleaned properly or is defective. The internal fingers
that contact the trace may not have enough tension.

All functions will operate ok except it goes into fast forward when the play
or record buttons are pressed . I cleaned the audio control head , mode
switch and replaced the end sensors and center led but got no luck . The
vc93 test tape shows the control pulse is there and doesn't appear to have a
servo problem . It doesn't seem to be out of time as it loads and unloads
ok . The capastan motor is operating at fast forward speed in the play
position . Does anyone have a suggestion on what I could try next . Thanks
again . Barry Appleby .
