Received setup information from Bob at Gemini (thanks), vertical adjusted
OK. NEW PROBLEM, low channels (especially 2/3/4) are a bit snowy, upper
channels are clear. AGC adjustmenst for this chassis? What did I miss?

Thanks again group

Thanks group! Finally received CATV Tuner IC (CXA1695), installed it and
right away noticed a difference. The "snowy" raster looked brighter then
before. Autoprogrammed perfect, no problems except the vertical has shifted
UP a bit and the colors need tweeking. I lost my old notes on accessing the
setup menu, I would appreciate the help particularly information on vertical
and color. Thanks. This one is almost out the door.

Using a RCA remote, I was not able to make the TV work with a composite
video feed via the (yellow) input jack on the back. Just snow. I can trace
the signal from the input jack to the T-Chip, pin #64 if I remember
correctly. Recently I received a CTC177 training manual and symptoms list, I
am going through it now. Does anyone have any other thoughts of this
problem? A schematic would really help. Thanks.

I don't know about selecting 00 or 90 or 91 on that set, I am sure it will
work, but.... I would just use a remote and select the "Input" button. Make
sure you are selecting the "INPUTS". You need to confirm this most important
fact. If it does work on inputs using the input button on any RCA remote
then probably U7401 Inside Tuner is bad. If not, I have seen the Varactor
Tuning Diodes bad. There is a kit for those diodes, pretty common, maybe
someone on here has the part number. If it doesn't really work on the
inputs, forget all that I said, you have a dog.

Set doesn't receive ANY channels, stuck on channel 3 after autoprogram. You
can key in a channel via remote control, the channel indicator changes but
no channel recieved. Switch to cable band, key in other channels, still
nothing. I tried a direct composite feed via input jacks, still nothing, I
believe the input channel for this is 90 or is it 91, regardless I tried
both, no video via RCA inputs.

BTW, there is only a 1.9Vpp horizontal pulse present at pin#38 of the micro.
How does this pulse get here, what could be attenuating it by .5 volts. Does
anyone have a schematic or a partial scan? I wish I had more experience with
RCA's :-)

Someone else suggested this problem might be with the tuner control IC
because the micro is responding to front panel buttons, does the autoprogram
thing when asked, OSG is working, but no channels. Or maybe the tuner IC is
defective. Any other thoughts RCA veterans.

Thanks,

OK David, I am confused.
What is the set doing? Do you get any channels, cable or air?

Does this model have AV inputs? Do they work?
