If you were to look in the front pages of a paper service manual, under the
general information section, it has the following information regarding the
circuit related component numbering system used by Thomson TVs.

1200 series - Wide Band Audio Processing
1400 series - Auxillary Video/Audio Input Hi-Fi Output
1700 series - Stereo Audio Processing
1900 series - Audio Output
2300 series - IF Input/Processing
2700 series - Luminance Processing
2800 series - Chroma Processing
2900 series - D-PIP Processing
3100 series - Instument (System) Control
3200 series - EEPROM
3300 series - On Screen Display
4000 series - AC Input and Raw B+
4100 series - Regulated B+ and Standby Voltages
4200 series - Degaussing
4300 series - Horizontal Drive
4400 series - Horizontal Output
4500 series - Vertical Deflection
4700 series - Scan Derived Voltages
4800 series - Pincushion Processing
5000 series - Picture Tube Socket
7000 series - Tuner On Board (TOB) Circuits

I hope this clarifies this somewhat.
