Al; I haven't read all the answers to your question, I was away yesterday. Two things on this.... Keep in mind...a "Firewall" is not an anti-virus program, so you need to run a Firewall and a Anti-Virus Program. Try not to run two Firewalls at the same time. My choice is a Firewall separate from Norton or Microsoft, since these are the ones most easily circumvented. Zone Alarm, the Free version is a good one. A Router with a built in Firewall would be my first choice. But you are right....two firewalls running in tandem, will slow your computer. -Ed- Tel-Tek Electronics Ontario-Canada teltek3@xxxxxxxxxxxx ----- Original Message ----- From: "AL LEATHERMAN" <alleathe@xxxxxxxxxxx> To: <techassist@xxxxxxxxxxxxx> Sent: Tuesday, September 06, 2005 12:23 PM Subject: [TechAssist] Fw: Guru opinion needed on Norton Vs. using Gates firewalll > > Sent: Tuesday, September 06, 2005 12:22 PM > Subject: Guru opinion needed on Norton Vs. using Gates firewalll > > >>I suspect Norton is slowing down my computer,as well as missing files all >> the time.Should I re-up on my new computer,or simply use the provided >> protection that came with XP?
