Bil; As far as critical safety components..would you use a 1 ohm 25 watt resistor to protect the AC. Would you use a 4A slow blow...When we had Power Transformers in sets, slow blows worked well, due to breakdowns in insulation. Notice Slo-blows are no longer around (that's the ones that use to have the little spring in them to take +10% of surge). There is so much on the Internet these days, research does wonders.;-) -Ed- ***************************************************************** Ed Gaidies Tel-Tek Electronics Ontario-Canada teltek3@xxxxxxxxxxxx teltek@xxxxxxxxx On 8-Oct-04, at 6:08 PM, Bil Green wrote: > But there really is a relationship between fuseable and flameproof. > They both contain a very thin film of metal or carbon which opens > when overheated. > > I realize that some film resistors with the same wattage ratings > may open at a different temperature, but I feel a lot better using > a film resistor in place of a fuseable than using one with a higher > wattage rating. > > Yes, in extremely rare cases this practice could cause a house to > catch fire, but I suppose it's about as likely as getting hit by a > bus.
