[TechAssist] Fisher TAD-993 Multi-disc player

Fisher TAD-993
When a disc is inserted into this unit,
the carousel rotates 2 or three complete revolutions, stops, then the
display shows mech. error.
It somehow doesn't sense the disc.
I know about the slip gears that go bad,
but they are O.K.
I need to know how the unit senses a disc and its position.
