Panasonic will start to manufacture consumer electronic products with lead-
free (PbF) solder; the complete change should be completed by April 2003.
This action is in accordance with Panasonic's commitment to reduce
environment pollutants.
Printed Circuit Board (PCB) made with lead-free solder will have PbF stamp
(examples below).
 (1) Recommended lead-free solder composition is Sn96.5 Ag3.0 Cu0.5.
(2) Lead-free (PbF) solder melting point is 50°F ~ 70°F (10°C ~ 20°C)
higher than regular solder. Iron temperature should be kept to 700° +/-
20°F (370°C +/-10°C). Pb free solder will tend to splash when heated
too high (about 1100°F/600°C).
(3) All products with the printed circuit board PbF stamp must be serviced
with lead-free solder.
(4) Panasonic approved lead-free (PbF) solder part numbers are:
RMA98M705P33, 0.3mm, 250g roll.
RMA98M705P36, 0.6mm, 500g roll.
RMA98M705P31, 1.0mm, 1kg roll.
NOTE:
· There are other solder vendors which sell LEAD FREE SOLDER which Panasonic
has not yet approved, however the composition of Sn96.5 Ag3.0 Cu0.5 is
recommended.
· For further information please refer to the Service Manual for each model.
