Hi Jeff. The only time I have seen that symptom was due to a failed CRT driver IC on one of the CRT boards. I believe that defective convergence circuit will cause it to pulse, but I have not seen one. Other than what you have already checked, I don't know of anything that could cause the set to pulse on the SSB board. Maybe a lightning surge shorted the video switch IC? Have you checked with your distributor to see if the board could be dropped shipped to you from Thomson? They will do that for most parts for ASC's, and occasionally it does not take as long as their ETA indicates. I have actually received parts several weeks before the ETA. Believe it or not! I narrowed the problem to the SSB, but that's it, since my Chipper Checker is not working... Board is on BO for a month...is you have any suggestions, I'm all ears.. I did rule out the audio circuit and tuner as the problem. I have had -to replace one or two tuners, and was not required to replace the entire -board. I purchase my parts from my local distributor, and file the claim -electronically to Thomson. I have had very little problems with rejected -claims. The one I have had have been corrected and accepted within 5 days. -Thomson has a payment schedule of checks being mailed twice a month, so I -normally receive payment before my parts from my distributor are due on -Net 30 terms. - -Corey Brazell -Audio Video Electronics -12169 SC Hwy 121 -Newberry SC 29108 - - > > > [Original Message] > > > From: armando guerra <birdie@xxxxxxxxxxxxx> > > > To: techassist@xxxxxxxxxxxxx <techassist@xxxxxxxxxxxxx> > > > Date: 5/24/2004 11:42:43 AM > > > Subject: [TechAssist] RCA ASC Update: > > > > > > Thanks to all the reply's on becoming an rca asc.I downloaded the > > > app.from the rca website and there are quite a few > > > requirements,i.e.chipper-check which I don't have and just a few more as > > > far as equipment is concerned.I talked to a rca rep.and he mentioned > > > that the new chipper-check is now going to cost about $500.00.Also,the > > > service lit. is about $300.00.yearly.The thing that has me worried is > > > that he say's that I have to buy all the parts myself and that they will > > > reinburse me at the wholesale price when I file the claim. What about if > > > the claim is rejected for some reason.I get stuck with all this expense. > > > > > > How about the new HD parts. Can you imagine if I have 3 or 4 sets in here > > > and I have to order parts for all of them.I hear most of the repairs > > > will be board replacement only. > > > I think that I am going to think about all this for a awhile yet before > > > I decide. > > > Mando > > > Birdie's TV & Electronics > > > Casa Grande,AZ > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- > > - > > > Lost Password: > > > http://www.tech-assist.org and select "Login Problems?". > > > Email Archives: > > > //www.freelists.org/archives/techassist/ > > > > > > > > > > > ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- > - > > Lost Password: > > http://www.tech-assist.org and select "Login Problems?". > > Email Archives: > > //www.freelists.org/archives/techassist/ > > > > > > > > > ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- > - > > Lost Password: > > http://www.tech-assist.org and select "Login Problems?". > > Email Archives: > > //www.freelists.org/archives/techassist/ > ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- Lost Password: http://www.tech-assist.org and select "Login Problems?".
