[TechAssist] Re: FIXED UPDATE Re: RCA PTK195M26A, P46921,convergence problems

New convergence P/S came in at 11:30 AM, set is now converging properly.
Customer is leaving around 2 PM. It's nice when things work out (well
sort of!). Does this set have auto convergence? Thanks.

problems

I disconnected all the convergence yokes and found that my convergence
P/S powers up with all the proper voltages. When I connect the green
convergence yoke the voltages drop 10-15% and the green tube is
converged. But when I connect either of the blue or red convergence
yokes (by themselves) the convergence P/S shuts down. It sounds like my
convergence P/S is at fault. Does the green convergence circuit draw
less current because it is fixed (static)? I can get the convergence
P/S overnite but my customer is moving early tomorrow morning 3,000
miles away. It would be nice to get this P/S repaired. TIA.

Is that 215496 and 215495? The current condition is the voltages come
up for a split second when I turn the set on, then they drop down to
zero, except for the 23 volts which remains constant @ 22 volts and the
+45 volt line which drops down to 20-25 volts. If I disconnect one yoke
(hor and vert yoke) the voltages all stay up but the other 2 tubes do
not come on (must be some kind of protection circuit). I just replaced
both of the ECG587 diodes with ECG588--no luck, same symptoms. Can you
tell me what the 15 volt diode NTE cross is? Maybe they are faulty.

Sometimes I overlook the obvious. I have seen bad connections on the
electrolytics in the secondary...

I work on enough of these that I have known good modules, I swap modules
on
service calls and then rebuild the old ones.

Those smd transistors 215496 and 215496 (compliments) are notorious. I
keep
a bag of each on hand.

Can you give a recap of the current condition?
