Try a few drops of water on top of the pump sponge to ensure the pump is working, and note whether ink is being sucked through the jets to recolour the sponge again. If the sponge gets recoloured, then jets aren't blocked. Some models have a hole at the left end of the carriage bay where ink is squirted during the clean cycle. A piece of white tissue down the hole will tell you if the head is ejecting ink. > -----Original Message----- > From: Bil Green [SMTP:tv.vcrrepair@xxxxxxxxxxx] > Sent: Tuesday, October 30, 2001 8:49 PM > To: .Techassist > Subject: [TechAssist] Epson Printer - WON'T PRINT > > > Epson Stylus Color 860 > Printer > > EXTREMELY faint lettering visible (only bits & > pieces - often nothing at all) > > I performed many cleaning cycles, including using > cartridges filled with 409 cleaner (has worked > well for someone else) > > Pulled the heads and soaked them in window > cleaner (another tried and proven fix) - still works > the same > > Can someone tell me of a simple procedure to > isolate which area is causing almost no printing? > (Epson printers do not have the heads in the print > cartridges). > > Thank, > > Bil > > > > > > Help make your TechAssist online repair tips > database better!
