Al; Your original post said flyback and then the response to Gary says yoke? Can we assume that your ringing the flyback out of circuit and its ringing good?? If so then when your flyback is ringing okay out of the circuit and then in circuit rings crappy, there are several things you want to start thinking about. First thing you want to do is to start removing all the paths out of the flyback. If you start taking unsoldering all the pins from the flyback and make sure that nothing is connected and then leave the ringer on the primary side of fly and then start attaching the pins to the circuit board again and when the ringer indicates a bad condition again, then track that circuit down. It is not at all unusual for many of the secondaries off of the fly to be so marginally ineffective that any kind of a load will cause the HOT to die because the new sets with the new flybacks are just not set up for any kind of a shorted heavy load. I also have had flybacks that checked good out of circuit but were bad anyway because with the way the secondaries were configured that the primary of the fly would not see any shorted turns unless hooked up. At least that is the way the Sencore tech explained it. I probably did not have my hearing aids in right that day.
