I'm not sure if you are replying to Jeff or me.
Anyway, I agree with you, although there are
certain situations where "shotgunning" is
acceptable.
The CTC 169 for instance. Stupidity, not to replace
the box caps in the horizontal and the elyc's in
the regulator.
What about C431(or it's equivilent) in nap chassis?
I could go on.
But that was not the purpose of my e-mail on this
17 year old TV.
I already know the answer, but the owner doesn't.
He thinks this set is worth repairing.
And I don't.
95% of the techs that have replyed have agreed
(without knowing it) with me.
This way, perhaps I'll waste no more of my time and
no more of the customer's money.
I don't need the work.
I'm 2 months behind right now, and they are still
coming in a steady stream.
I'm just not going to waste my time on things like
this, and the customer insisted.
Silly thing about it, he is a millionaire several
times over.
Still no reason to take his money for a repair that
can't possibly last.
Now what was that about a shotgun??
