You can get a conversion kit, to convert the laptop 2 1/2 inch hard
drive to fit in a desktop computer. Then you can copy all your personal
files off of that drive to a CD or DVD.

I would choose XP over ME any day. Win ME is like a botched up windows
98 update which they brought on the market in a rush because they ran
out of time to make Windows 2000 both for business and consumer use.
Thus they had to wait for XP to be made for both business and consumer.
I actually prefer Windows 2000 over any of the others. In the win 2000
service packs, they have upgraded some of the compatibilty issues with
consumer software and probably all new software put on the market is win
2000 compatible.
