OK DARYL. Besides throwing the whole thing away,
getting another monitor, etc, etc, you have several more options
1) boot from a floppy - go to C: - go to C:\windows -
type win /? and it will give you the way to get into safe mode
(and a lot else) ( I do not remember now, I do not use 98 any more
but I have done it several times). You should have a boot disk, otherwise
I can send you one or you can download it from a zillion sites on the
Internet.

2) get any VGA pci or ISA card you have on hand (if you have none
I can mail you one) Sub the one you are using and windows will
authomatically start in 640x480x16 until you supply the drivers for the
card
If your mobo has integrated video, try to disable it from the BIOS
first.

3) reinstall windows98SE either booting from a floppy or the CD itself.
(you will have to do it anyway, if yours is not responding to the F8 key
THERE IS DEFINITELY SOMETHING WRONG WITH YOUR SYSTEM)

Most probably, 1) is the best option, and once you have it
working, you have at least to do the following:
a) reinstall win98se b) get yourself another monitor
(I have a bunch of old 15" monitors and neither of them
has problems with 1024X768 res. only very old
VGA monitors won't go beyond 640X480)

Well, I am afraid there is nothing else I can do for you,
except suggesting a computer upgrade :o)))

good luck
Jorge
