Hi Phil: Sounds to me like the FBT is breaking down under load. Post the Numbers on the White Sticker on the FBT here, and It may be a known Part that fails alot. You can also Pull the Anode cap, and from there to the ground pins on the FBT, you ought to measure from 2-9 nF. Thats the Internal Cap in the FBT, and if its Open or too high in value, it will cause shutdown like you are seeing.
