[TechAssist] Broksonic CTSGT-9369CTT 20" TVCR combi. HOT shorted. other?

This unit has an Orion CRT.
Q406 HOT is a small TO-220 transistor number 2SD2627 (NTE2640, Philips
4835 1304 8195). It is shorted causing the SMPS to repeatedly cycle
(chirp-chirp). Clipped the collector, and the unit came up, the deck
initialised. (About 130 VDC was on collector trace) Maybe the only
problem.
1) Has anyone worked on this model/ symptom?
2) Has anyone ever subbed a standard size HOT as a test? and if so, what
type?
