UPS Has a claims Department , and if you arent Satisfied with how you are
being treated, ask for that department, or ask for the Supervisor of the
person you are speaking to. The Beaurocracy in these big Companies is half
the problem...but once you get on the phone with the right party (at UPS) ,
you will begin to see things work for you. I got a Claim processed EVERY
Time I did this correctly, and Firmly explained my dissatisfaction without
dumping my emotional baggage on the Person on the phone. I got the Check in
the amount I accessed the Damage to be WORTH TO ME in about 4 Weeks. Again,
this was Insured each instance for the $100 Basic Coverage, and Every time I
was under that amount as the "Declared Value".....which I sugguest Everyone
include when they ship something, because you never know. If it were such a
Mission Critical Shipment, I would have said add an additional $100 , making
it insured up to $200 for I think another $2.50 for the Additional $100 of
coverage.

I am fine with the Concept of Waiting for my Payment as long as I feel I am
understood when I voice my Complaint. However, if they do feel there is any
sense of foul play / Fraud like the intentional Shipping of "Junk" they will
not cooperate at all. Same way with most Insurance places who want to remain
efficient for their customers.

Clint sent me a MB last year that he had went ahead and already put the
processor in. (You know the processor that goes into the LOCKING
socket??). And I have griped to him many, many times about how him
packing stuff in "over-kill" mode. Anyway, this package comes ups, and
somewhere along the line it had been dropped or banged so hard that the
processor had been knocked out of the STILL LOCKED SOCKET. It was
rolling around in the box with about half of the pins bent flat. Clint
said they have to have dropped it from a 5 story building to do that. I
called in a claim and was told that they would "pick it up next week to
be inspected by their damage team" and that it "must be packed in the
original container in the original received condition", blah-blah-blah.
I told them I didn't have 6-10 weeks to wait on this, that I had a
customer waiting as we spoke. I heard, "We're sorry sir, but that is our
policy. Would you like to cancel the claim?". To make a long story
short, I managed to straighten the pins on the processor and get it back
together myself and it still worked. But I lost about 20 man-hours in
the process that I got no pay or compensation whatsoever for.
