You did not mention that Linus is dead. No one knows how much or if his
vitamin regimen prolonged his life. He did not have an unusually long life.
When he was proposing the vitamin regimen I also saw warnings by physicians
about side effects of too much vitamin C. He was a genius as a physicist but
fell into the trap of thinking he must be a genius at everything else.
My mother will be 99 in a few days. She lives at an assisted living
residence where she is far from being one of the oldest residents. None of
them are taking large doses of vitamins or anything else out of the
ordinary. The residence takes care of their needs and just makes sure to
offer them three nutritious meals a day and encourages them to exercise and
interact socially.
