For a start, try replacing or refurbishing the switch on the right side of the front loading mechanism. If you want to check it first, you can see its action on one of the 4 wires that come off of the connector on the right side of the front loading mechanism. Sits at 2.5 volts. Goes to 5 volts when you insert cassette, and to zero volts when basket is down. If it is noisy or generates noise in play when you bump the chassis, that is your problem.
