I was thinking maybe a few mentors could get together to discuss preparations
in next few weeks. Then we could share with students prior to the event.

Maybe Adam, Chris, Ken, Brad, me.... and whoever else who may be
interested/available to help.

Mary

FYI to 2039 Mentors: We can talk about this a little on the night of

on board. Need to insure we have enough propaganda to hand out and we will be
able to take names of prospective mentors. Will need drivers and kids familiar
with powering up and operating the Robot. Will also need balancing board and
backstop with hoops.

Ken,
Thanks for the invitation!! I am surveying team members regarding
availability, but am pretty sure we can make it. I will confirm once I've
heard from the students who know how to run the robot!

Karen: It has been awhile since we have talked. Hamilton Sundstrand (HS) is
planning a Lunch on the Lawn at our Alpine and Harrison location that is
focused on education. One of the goals is to promote the employee involvement
in our local schools through mentorship in different school programs including
US FIRST Robotics. It is HS leaderships desire to increase employee volunteers
such that we would in the short term be able to support a team at Eisenhower
High School and in the long term the other 3 Rockford public high schools.
This would be the perfect venue for existing teams to be able to mentor
upcoming local teams as well as promote US FIRST in general. Lunch on the Lawn
brings employees and their families together for a picnic lunch on the HS
property. They bring in food, tents, tables and chairs along with
entertainment at times. We have a dance floor being brought in for
demonstrating our robots and we will be able to pass out info and collect names
of interested individuals. Rockford school officials and teachers are being
invited. We were hoping you could join Rockford Robotics and The Flaming
Monkeys at this event which will run from 11:30AM to 1PM July 18th. Please
let us know if you would be interested.

Andreas has agreed to having an outreach event to Rockford Public School 205
teachers, as part of the July 18 Lunch on the Lawn.

As such, we would like to have the robotics teams do the demonstrations, as
we’d discussed a few weeks ago. Hopefully that will still work with your teams.

Can you confirm some things, please:

1. You can still do it…[BM] Yes. I will be meeting with a few mentors
on the Rockford Robotics team to determine what we want to setup for a display.
2. We will have a 28’x28’ piece of staging material rented for the
robots. It will be a hard surface (dance floor, actually) that is only a couple
of inches off the ground. It would be most convenient to the layout of the
event if we could have that surface on the parking lot. Will that work for
you?[BM] That would work great.
3. I think I remember that you will be on battery packs, but if you need
a power source, please let us know.[BM] We will need power to charge the
battery packs. Also, we will need power for computers, because we would like
to run 1 or 2 slide shows at a display.
4. We’d like to have Rockford Robotics, Flaming Monkeys and Winnovations,
if possible. I don’t have contact names for all – would you mind
contacting/arranging the attendance and demonstrations? Schedule-wise, we’d
like the robots to demo (and have students on hand to discuss their robots)
from 11-2:00, if possible.[BM] Flaming Monkeys will be Rakesh and Jitendra
(copied on this reply). Ken, do you know who we can contact for Winnovation?

Any questions for us, at this point?

Thank you!

Colleen
