  Hello All.

Lee and I just had a great little adventure! I just got a “new” 1972
Volkswagen Westy Camper bus last Sunday. I took off work a bit early yesterday
and we loaded up the camper, Audra and Brian, and hit the road around 4pm.

This weekend was the big transporters at the point show/camp out. Mostly
vintage type II VW busses. We got just on the south side of Dallas and started
smelling the breaks, I also noticed that bus was pulling toward the left side.
We pulled over and the front driver’s side breaks were smoking! Turned out that
the new caliper that we had installed the day before would not release the
breaks, luckily I had packed an extra set of break pads so we installed them,
however breaks would still not release if pressed.

We made the adventurous decision to keep trekking even though Morgan’s Point
was 2 hours away and only 30 min from home, using NO BREAKS!

We arrived in Morgan’s Point at the bus camp out around 8pm, it was a fun
trip down, anytime we needed to slow down I would just have to down shift.

There were vintage busses everywhere! Lots of really great friendly people,
bond fires, beers, and good times. We set up camp, made some dinner, and played
some cards.

This morning we woke up, had some fantastic pancakes and drank some coffee. I
took a ton of great photos. Please check out the pictures:

Trip home was uneventful and fun, we made it the entire way with out using
the breaks whatsoever!

All and all a great trip, we look forward to taking our “new” camper on lots
more trips, starting this Thursday we’ll be taking the weekend to travel some
where, location yet unknown.

  Thanks,

  Jeff and Lee Bednar
