Subject: [tcb] that wierd noise

problems solved. first without the exhust resonator and tip exhaust was hitting the rear apron causing vibrations which made an awful racket.

ok and second problem well here is the story:

so i installed the exhaust tip and drove to my dads house. man the bus is running great. little on the hot side but that is because of the open holes where i should have the air tubes that go from shroud to exchanger. Anyway, so i am doing like 50 running great still have a bit of that roar noise but not near as bad with my new resonator and tip. get into a small town called sardis go around the curve infront of the ballfield and the hubcap comes off. well i think nothing off it and stop and get the hubcap, when walking back i noticed the axlenut was just about to fall off. so i hand tighten it because i have no wrenches with me and drive 10mph stopping every minute to tighten the nut. finally i run into this guy planting flowers and ask him if he has a pipewrench or something and he does so i tighten it. then he whips out this 1/4 inch thick 3" pipe and says here is some leverage for you so i litterally raise my self up off the ground then i roll the bus forward and get another good full turn on it and he then gives me a carter pin and says bet you need one of these too. so i put the new pin in and off i go still limping it because i am scared out of my mind that the wheel will fall off at any moment. get to my dads house pull the pin and tighen it a bit but not much so i get him to help (for those who have seen my dad, he isn't a small guy). we both put our weight on it to get the nut to where i can put the pin back in.

so long story short, i put the pin in put the hubcap back on and no more roar comming from the back. infact i grinded the shit out of the starter because i thought the thing died on me driving down the road.

so now all it needs are tires. talked to andy about that found a place in North Little rock that mounts and balances wide fives so hopefully soon i will have new tires on it.

mark, i probably will pull the dizzy if temps don't go down after putting on those hoses that go from the shroud to the exchangers. the dipstick was abit on the warm side. i could hold it but it wasn't exactly compfortable.
