That’s what I have now. A 2007 with a remote filter and cooler with a 388 ring
and pinion. Swing axel and dropped spindles. All that cool stuff matters
little if you don’t have a good alternator pulley. I was driving Murray in town
traffic, 90 degree day, the bus was running really really well and then it
started missing... I look down and both lights were on and my oil temp gauge
was pegged. Then the engine died. I coasted to a stop in a vacant lot. When I
went back and opened the lid half of the pulley and the belt fell out. Triple A
took me home where I pulled the engine. The spark plug wires had melted and
shut down the engine before real damage was done. Danny, at Wayout Salvage and
I took off all the tin and the rocker arms and torqued everything down,
confirmed compression, put it on an engine stand and it started right up. Today
I installed the engine in the bus and got it running strong. For some reason
the clutch is way out of adjustment, so I hope that tomorrow Murray will be all
good.
If I had a bunch of money I would go for front disk brakes and ring and pinion
steering Like Chuck’s bus.

The 2007 (78X90.5s) is probably one of the best street reliable and power

I’m finally able to storm the neighborhood in the 78x90.5. That’s plenty of

Like my front end alignment is all out of whack, lack of seat belts, adjusted
rear brakes, and of course registration. Not to mention interior and side
windows. Heh.

At first I was told to not go bigger than a 1915 then a builder said I
should put in a type 4 2ltr. I probally will just build a solid 1600 and cruise
it around.

Yeah buses are very different from beetles in the engine cooling
department. You want high RPM's which the reduction gears give you.

Sweet looks like I will be doing brakes. Other than changing my shifter

The disc brake conversion was easy to do and makes the bus so

Be careful of big engine and freeway flier as it can make
your engine run too fast to keep it cool. Check with some experts to get the
full explanation but the bus was never intended to go over 55-60 mph.
I would be interested in hearing more about your
experiences with disc brakes. I am also looking to install disc brakes on the
front to help with the RV trailer I pull. The older I get the less I care about
'keeping it real' and the more about safety & comfort.
We will also be cruising to Eureka Thursday from Austin
area and you are welcome to cruise with us. Where are you located?

No nothing at i was just told i should switch it out for
