The 2007 (78X90.5s) is probably one of the best street reliable and power
combination engine that you can build for a VW and it makes an excellent bus
engine.

I’m finally able to storm the neighborhood in the 78x90.5. That’s plenty of

Like my front end alignment is all out of whack, lack of seat belts, adjusted
rear brakes, and of course registration. Not to mention interior and side
windows. Heh.

At first I was told to not go bigger than a 1915 then a builder said I should
put in a type 4 2ltr. I probally will just build a solid 1600 and cruise it
around.

Yeah buses are very different from beetles in the engine cooling department.
You want high RPM's which the reduction gears give you.

Sweet looks like I will be doing brakes. Other than changing my shifter the

Mainly because I just get tired of adjusting drums all the time.

The disc brake conversion was easy to do and makes the bus so much easy to stop

Be careful of big engine and freeway flier as it can make your engine run too
fast to keep it cool. Check with some experts to get the full explanation but
the bus was never intended to go over 55-60 mph.
I would be interested in hearing more about your experiences with disc brakes.
I am also looking to install disc brakes on the front to help with the RV
trailer I pull. The older I get the less I care about 'keeping it real' and the
more about safety & comfort.
We will also be cruising to Eureka Thursday from Austin area and you are
welcome to cruise with us. Where are you located?

No nothing at i was just told i should switch it out for a freeway flyer and
upgrade to an irs. As far as engine i just wanted to get something a little
bigger like a 1776 but was told go bigger for the towing power. I am upgrading
the brakes to disc at least in the front.

Actually reduction gears are pretty good for daily drivers. The engine will

Right now i am trying to figure out whether to replace the swing axle with an

and trans
