made sure it was pushed down all the way put the cap back on and it is still doing it. will lube it up tomorrow like will said. not my number 1 concern right now, i am trying to mainly focus on the windshield area and the floor right now. i am taking dan's advice and doing everything that needs to be done while i ait is out of commission (no heat and it's cold out)

The cap is on the right way, I assume? You know it has that notch in it. Are you possibly pinching the condensor wire keeping the cap from sitting flush? Are both cap clamps snug? Positive the rotor is seated all the way down?

well the cap hasn't cracked yet but i can clearly see a gouge where it is hitting
