The latest marathon of building and re-building brake systems on Tyler's bus resulted from improper adjustment of the brakes which was finally diagnosed by Toby at Metaphysical VW in Austin. Replacement parts are important too. Some of the cylinders are not machined properly which doesn't allow the cylinder to seat properly to allow for proper adjustment. I have heard that the combination of toxic brake fluid and cheap crap non-German parts (rubber) we get today significantly lower the longevity of the wheel cylinders. It may also be a design problem....the bus was designed for a top speed of about 90 KPH. Those wanting a vehicle that drives like a Corvette or Subaru should purchase a Corvette, Subaru or something with at least three letters in the name (XLS, RSS etc). Slow down and smell the brakes. I actually had a questions about carbs but don't want to hijack this thread so I'll start a new subject. Steve R.
