Haven't actually seen them anywhere. If you're talking about the clamps for the "bottom gap" then hold off. I'm going to see if KAR has this [http://www.bustoration.com/Muffler-Installation-kit-for-installation-of-damper-pipe-1960-1971-Bus_p_854.html] in stock to ship out to me. I ordered everything else from Ronnie and WW but forgot the freakin muffler install kit --- I got the damper/tailpipe install kit. I already had new asbestos donuts and exhaust head gaskets so I didn't think about it. Are you planning to go to Galveston? If not, would you see if Paul will bring down the hitch and I'll send cash back with him. Doing the valves tonight while the motor is back out on my ATV jack. Waiting for midnight to roll around so I can turn off the office phone. Here is a link from Mid America that shows the components. What I was referring to was the very last part shown under item J. http://www.mamotorworks.com/acvw-air-cooled-vw-beetle-super-beetle-exhaust+1963+1974-stock-1-53-9970.html And I am not recommending anyone buy anything from Mid America. Just was the only blowup of the muffler components I could find. --- On Wed, 1/27/10, Gerald Livingston <gerald.tcb@xxxxxxxxxxxxx> wrote: From: Gerald Livingston <gerald.tcb@xxxxxxxxxxxxx> Subject: [tcb] muffler gaps?? To: tcb@xxxxxxxxxxxxx Date: Wednesday, January 27, 2010, 8:09 PM I think this is the first VW I've owned with a stock muffler. Pics of quick fitting install here: http://65.170.133.65/photos/thumbnails.php?search=new+muffler&album=search&title=on&caption=on&keywords=on&type=AND 1. What's supposed to close the gap between the muffler "heat elbow" and the heater box opening? I've never had a muffler with the "elbows". Always had paper/foil tubing all the way from the shroud to the heater boxes. 2. What might cause the fairly severe offset between the left and right j-tube slip fits? Right side is tight up against the heater box. Left side is 2" or 3" out. Do I need to wrap a strap around the mustache bar and try to pull that side in before I install the half-circle clamps? G2
