That would be too sweet. I wonder if that information is available? This bus spent most of it's time in Cajun country. I don't know when that change occurred but there should be some codes to look at. They just won't help him decipher what kind of conversion it is. Do early buses have an import code? My 67 for instance came to the US through New Orleans, and it is part of the coding. Maybe you can find the import code? NO, you don't want your old bus to talk. I'm sure there's plenty of unpleasant things that an inanimate object could remember if it could. Besides let's not forget Ted Bundy drove a 1968 Beetle too, so there's some things I don't want to know about. On Dateline last night they had a show about Woodstock showing. There were tons of splits in the footage! If you've got a Canadiana, then you've got a rare bus indeed. I'd compare pics with Meyer on TS, even though he sold his several years ago. IMO it would be really, really strange for a Canadiana conversion to be way down here in Arkansas. ATX BUS wrote: Take off Aye! The best thing to look for in a camper conversion is a sticker with the companies name. Many of them are on the bulkhead behind the passenger seat. If it is not there, get ready to begin the hunt. There is a really good thread on the Samba about these conversions. I have spent some time researching my 67, and honestly don't think I have seen anything with the window configuration of your 58. However the windows can be misleading, so don't use them as your only criteria. The codes from the VW factory wouldn't have camper/panel conversion info unless it happened at the factory.
