My personal opinion is that the antique plates are the way to go. No inspection required, renew only once every 5 years at the normal fee that you would usually pay for 1 year and all it takes is a trip to the courthouse with the title, just like buying a regular plate. Bottom line; it is 1/5th the cost of a regular plate in that you only have to do it once every 5 years and requires no inspection. Only negative is that technically you can only drive in or to auto events, parades etc. I have antique plates on all of my VWs that are driveable. It's just less hassle and I have never ever been questioned by any law enforcement officer and have driven all over the US and to and from both coasts with them. --- On Wed, 3/3/10, James Dwan <james_dwan_2000@xxxxxxxxx> wrote: From: James Dwan <james_dwan_2000@xxxxxxxxx> Subject: [tcb] Re: low beam high beam switch To: tcb@xxxxxxxxxxxxx Date: Wednesday, March 3, 2010, 8:41 AM Yeah it's pricey but I want to get it inspected this month so I can run the B & W plates I found otherwise I guess I would need to go antique so I wouldn't need an inspection sticker. How long does that take BTW? --- On Wed, 3/3/10, sammie smith <bugcollections@xxxxxxxxxxxxx> wrote: From: sammie smith <bugcollections@xxxxxxxxxxxxx> Subject: [tcb] Re: low beam high beam switch To: tcb@xxxxxxxxxxxxx Date: Wednesday, March 3, 2010, 8:22 AM Ya got me on that one James. Never paid much attention to them other than the difference between screw terminals and push ons. Other than that as far as I know they are all the same. I wouldn't pay $45 for that one on the samba though. --- On Wed, 3/3/10, James Dwan <james_dwan_2000@xxxxxxxxx> wrote: From: James Dwan <james_dwan_2000@xxxxxxxxx> Subject: [tcb] low beam high beam switch To: tcb@xxxxxxxxxxxxx Date: Wednesday, March 3, 2010, 7:14 AM My 59 is toast. Will a '55-'57 work? It looks very close to mine: http://www.thesamba.com/vw/classifieds/detail.php?id=663737 James
