Klaxon AFAIK was used on special vehicles, ambulances, police conversions etc.  It was for that obnoxious dual tone alarm as they went down the road.

Anyone on the list a horn expert?  I have a Klaxon horn, well known make, made in France and stamped VW on the reverse side and it came off of a bus.  Is 12V and looks very similar in grill work and size to the early Bosch horns.  How does a French horn get stamped with VW?  Yeah, I know the answer is probably out there somewhere on the Samba forums, but I haven't had time to look.
