the guy has an engine stand he does this all the time. i was told to leave
the plugs out and the rockers and rods. so he can get the cam and crank good
and lubed (they have assembly lube on them now) and then he puts in the rods
and rockers and goes at it again to build preassure then we put in plugs and
FIRE IN THE HOLE!!!! and then make sure timing is accurate and adjust the
carb correctly. then all i got to do is bolt it to the tranny plug all my
wires in and she is ready to go. BUT then comes breaks.
oh and i got the cylinder tin and the shroud installed last night along with
the generator and generator stand and oh of course the doghouse style
cooler. the only thing that more or less bothers me is that the shroud is an
airconditioner shroud so the left side looks a little funny. oh well.
eventually someone will probably look at the bus and say is that an a/c
shroud? and i will say yes and they will either offer me money or offer me
money and a shroud and i will take it because i am cheap like that so it
will all work out. just like the chrome bumper.

Better yet is to leave the spark plugs out until the oil light goes out or pressure is indicated on the gauge. Less strain on moving parts with no oil pressure.

Congrats on the progress! You can prime it just by spinning it with the coil
disconnected, until the oil pressure light goes off, before you do the
initial start up.

so guess what i did last night with ol' hershey. i pushed him out of the shop (special note: that bus is a pain in the ass to push when in gear) and i finished building the long block. now all i lack is tin and i am not putting push rods and rockers on just yet because the guy that built the short block wants to prime the pump before starting it. but hopefully on tuesday or so of next week it will be hot tested and stabbed. then brakes which will be about two days worth of work.
oh and to top it off i was looking at the tires and inspecting them and they
look really good. i am debating on if i want to unload that amount of money
on new tires right now or drive it with the ones i got. i don't plan on
driving it much out of town right now, maybe to work which is going not much
over 55 the whole way for 37 miles. get the motor good and broken in then go
over it and check torque specs on everything. i am getting so freaking
excited i couldn't sleep last night.
i am building this thing to exact specs and i am comparing everything between bentley and the idiots guide.
