Why do you think I can't hear out of one ear now?

Some of us had rails and bajas actually playing in the dirt. I miss my 56 Baja
especially the stinger and solid mounts. Buzzzzzzzz.

I CAN'T HEAR YOU!  And if you had ever riden in or driven behind the Baja you'd
know why.

Sammy, stop living in the days where you had to rub sticks together to make
fire. How you gonna run your 500 watt twin amplifiers with the powered
sub-woofer and CB? And your laptop GPS and H2 headlights, foglights and
lightbar? I'm not even throwing in the Margarita machine or Bev's blowdryer.

Get with it.

It's not that hard to put an alternator in, me and dad did it in one night for
his bug. Sure there were a couple of hiccups but it's well worth it.

OK, need advice from all the VW mechanic wizards:  Still thinking about the
5,000 mile cruise to the Bug-In and the KG Treffen with the CA 1 highway cruise
thrown in.  Will drive the Baja.  Everything on this car is new or recently
gone through except for the generator.  Brushes are still good, generator works
fine and was replaced new, but about 100,000 miles ago.  So, should I play it
safe and just replace the generator with a new one before the trip?

And don't give me any crud about replacing it with an alternator.  I think
generators are much more reliable and I'm not pulling the juices that require
an alternator.
