Sounds good, I used 1" so the two 1/2"s should fit. I am not sure if there is room on the sides for the extra foam but sounds like a good idea. if it wont fit you can cut the sides off. --- On Sun, 7/17/11, abe schlichting <gogretago@xxxxxxxxx> wrote: From: abe schlichting <gogretago@xxxxxxxxx> Subject: [tcb] Re: front seat redo To: tcb@xxxxxxxxxxxxx Date: Sunday, July 17, 2011, 7:39 PM thanks for the responses folks. so, here's what i'm thinking...use hogrings to attach burlap or sailcloth to frames, then use spray adhesive? to attach a layer of 1/2" foam over just the top surface, then another layer of 1/2" foam that wraps all of the way down the sides, then a layer of batting/dacron if necessary, then replace the string in the covers with wire, set covers in sun for 10 minutes, strip them over padding and pull tight, bend down tabs, install in bus, and cruise 'till the wheels fall off!(no time soon, i hope!). did i miss anything important? i am well stocked on frosty libations!... Dacron ( comforter filling ) can go over the outside of everything . It will compress to make everything smooth without adding much height . almost no added size . my .02 terry . -----Original Message----- From: Gary First <gary.first@xxxxxxxxx> To: tcb <tcb@xxxxxxxxxxxxx> Sent: Sun, Jul 17, 2011 9:35 am Subject: [tcb] Re: front seat redo Abe you cut the foam about 1 inch big and glue to burlap. The burlap goes on the springs and then you pull the covers down over tight, extra hands are good. Keep pulling and stretching untill the cover is fitting/looking right and hook the tabs, tie the cords. You are done sir. --- On Sun, 7/17/11, abe schlichting <gogretago@xxxxxxxxx> wrote: From: abe schlichting <gogretago@xxxxxxxxx> Subject: [tcb] Re: front seat redo To: tcb@xxxxxxxxxxxxx Date: Sunday, July 17, 2011, 2:47 AM #yiv767656026 #yiv767656026AOLMsgPart_1_dcaa10fe-12c6-4d01-945d-ff9aa8edfb50 td{color:black;}#yiv767656026 #yiv767656026AOLMsgPart_1_dcaa10fe-12c6-4d01-945d-ff9aa8edfb50 DIV {margin:0px;} yes, it's a walk thru, and i have TMI covers, was planning on using foam rather than the "horsehair"pads, but i've never seen how people attach and trim the foam. i really wanted to just maybe watch someone go through the process, never having done it before. Are we talking about your SO-42 and is it a walk through? Do you have the TMI covers? Did you get your materials from WW? I have recently done two sets of walk throughs for the 65-67 type walk through and can answer questions. Also have several pictures of seats in my gallery on theSamba.com. Look under the gallery for bugcollections as the poster/author. --- On Sat, 7/16/11, abe schlichting <gogretago@xxxxxxxxx> wrote: From: abe schlichting <gogretago@xxxxxxxxx> Subject: [tcb] front seat redo To: tcb@xxxxxxxxxxxxx Date: Saturday, July 16, 2011, 4:15 PM #yiv767656026 #yiv767656026AOLMsgPart_1_dcaa10fe-12c6-4d01-945d-ff9aa8edfb50 td{color:black;}#yiv767656026 #yiv767656026AOLMsgPart_1_dcaa10fe-12c6-4d01-945d-ff9aa8edfb50 DIV {margin:0px;} does anyone know of any instructional videos available online that might show me some pointers on recovering my front seats? i already have the covers, and repaired/repainted the frames...thanks
