I'd agree with your point Brian if it weren't for an observation.  When you finish a bus, spend all the money and time, do you want to get it rock chipped up?  If you're also a vintage nazi
(present company included) then driving something that's 50+ years old with original parts becomes a roll of the dice.  I mean, you can carry fan belts, valve cover gaskets, points et al but I doubt that if I broke down in Nacogdoches the local O'Reillys could get me a master cylinder for a 52 Zwitter.  Given that it took me three months to find the right NOS part I'd like it to last at least a couple of seasons.

Since I drive some old busses around, it's especially disquieting to find that folks don't respect semaphores either.  "Hey look at that, an arm came out.  We'll speed up to look."  In the meantime I'm trying to change lanes.. )(*!@)#(!!#  Not to mention that I'm running on 54+ year old brake technology.  Let's see one 22mm wheel cylinder with oval brake shoes check.  Single Circuit Master Cylinder, check.   in a Bus.. No problem.  I have to send up signal flares when I'm preparing to stop.

Thus, the trailer for those aforementioned conditions.

Brian:  That post was intended for Denis!  He has experience with ramming the steering box into the trailer when loading Murray.

And to watch closely when you are loading and unloading off of a trailer!

Have you ever driven a lowered bus before? You will learn soon to take it slow and to hit gutters and driveway ends at an angle.

Did I say that?  I think what I really said was that I agreed with RK Smith in that rust buckets should not be featured in Hot VWs.

sammie, i'm only joking when i say this but in hot vw's you said you didn't understand why people take rough vw's slam them and put a mtor in them and drive.

here is the reason why:
http://i114.photobucket.com/albums/n256/i_am_cool_fred/P1010163.jpg

because when they lower there bus and have a somewhat steep driveway they forget about the driveway and slam into the incline causing damage on there freshley welded in front end.

bus ran great, throttle spring broke while i was in the second venturi so i had to kill it real quick becasue the throttle was stuck wide open. replaced the return spring and it drove farily well, had some brake issues, i need to adjust and rebleed them again. and then i slammed into the driveway...got wedged on it and had to rev the motor really high and pop the clutch to get enough umph to get it off the driveway...backed up and angled it in just fine.

THE BUS IS ALIVE ONCE AGAIN!!!!! sunday i will probalby get out and test it a bit more.
