IMO no one should drive a VW with electronic ignition unless they carry a spare 
009 with points/condenser to stick in when the electronic goes out.

All bets are off with the msd, IMO. Throw a conventional ignition in there and 
I bet it fires up. Something to be said for old school simplicity.
