> First thing I did was buy that big ass chrome VW emblem for the nose! > Then started buying sheet metal and engine parts... When I first bought my bus it was, of course, a piece of crap, nothing worked, it barely rolled. My wife had been to Eureka Springs with her family in the past and when we read about a VW show there we went up in our "real car" from Dallas. We stayed out for about a week, we stayed in hotels, ate in restaurants, bought souvenirs went home through Oklahoma, visited Tulsa, etc. Spent lots of money.Even though my bus needed EVERYTHING, all I bought at the show was a regular, non chrome VW emlem for the front. Now, years later, people ask about how expensive it is to fix up an old car like that, what was the most expensive part. I point at the emblem on the front. That thing cost me about $1000.
