Ronnie what a cool trip! Its still in the 90?s here so don?t rush home, its
awful.

I don?t know if anyone around here is going to make buses and balloons
after all, Steve & I had to work so we won?t be there.

Tylers new friend Laiha has a shaved head and earrings everywhere, I really
like her.

Well gang,

So far so good on the west coast tour.

I'm sitting in my hotel room in San Francisco answering a few e-mails and
taking it easy. My son, Alex, and his buddy, Drew are downtown somewhere.
I left them a few hours ago at Tower Records after eating some very good
Chinese food down in China town. I gave them a $20 for a cab and a business
card from the hotel in case they can't find their way home.

Man a real shower was nice.

Picked up Alex and Drew last Friday in Dallas at about 4:00 PM. Met Alex's
new friend Lanni, who has a nice assortment of "big" tatoos and three
pierced things sticking out of her lip.

Anyway the dad in me just popped out there for a second.

We drove all of Friday night and stopped west of Albuquerque and slept at a
rest stop for a few hours. Got back on the road after some breakfast.

We made it to LA about 10:30 Saturday night, drove around and ended up in
Malibu. We stayed Saturday night at the nicest RV park I've ever seen - the
most expensive too, but what a view! Had Ramen noodles for dinner.

Like Dan and Katrina reported from their San Diego trip, Bays and Vanagons
are everywhere. At the campground there was a nice 78 bay. On my way to
get some milk Sunday AM I noticed they had a nice water pipe (hooka) sitting
on the picnic table next to their bus. On my way back from the store, two
of LA's finest were parked in front of the van. No handcuffs, but lots of
discussing going on.

Sunday AM after some eggs and sausage we were off again to Los Osos, home of
GoWesty. What a beautiful drive up the PCH Hwy 1. Arrived at Morro Bay
about sundown and saw the most spectacular sunset I've ever seen.

Los Osos may be named after a bear, but they have the biggest raccoons I've
ever seen. Came right up to our campsite and ate some dog food somebody had
left the night before.

Monday dropped off the van at GoWesty to have some work done and moved the
camping gear to a loaner van. We made our way up the coast on PCH 1
stopping whenever the urge hit us.

Monday night we stayed on the beach at New Brighton. More Raccoons, sky was
clear so sunset wasn't as nice as the night before.

We got up this AM and drove the rest of the way to SF. Walked back and
forth across the Golden Gate Bridge. Checked out Fishermen's Wharf. Tried
to get a hotel, but $300 for a room is a little high for me. Found a cheap
hotel about 6 blocks off the wharf and that's where I am now.

We start back tracking tomorrow, down the 101 to Los Osos. We will pick up
our van sometime in the afternoon and will start heading east. We will camp
somewhere on the way to the Grand Canyon. We are planning to stay at the
Grand Canyon on the south ridge Thursday night, then on to Alburquerque for
the Buses and Balloons Friday night. After the dawn ascent Saturday AM we
are headed back to Big D.

1,836 miles from Houston to Los Osos. Saw gas prices from $1.99 in
Childress, Texas to $3.05 in LA. Good times had by all.

By the way, XM Radio is worth $10/month when you are cruising.

I'll post some pictures when I get back to Houston.

See you at T@TP.

Ronnie
