valves were last adjusted when i went to psychoblooie...about 2k ago. it is definately time for it but its never done this before...

you'll laugh at this but one thing i did noticed: after i posted this i went out to look at it and double check the carb bolts (where it bolts to the intake) one bolt was loose so i attempted to tighten it and it was stripped so i pulled the carb off to re tap it and discovered something interesting...that nut i found in the engine compartment about a month ago evidently went to the carb. yea that's right the carb was being held on by a striped nut. but ironically it wasn't running bad. so i retapped the carb and made sure i tightened both bolts...it still dies if i really hammer on it but doesn't really do it if i just bump it like it was doing. i will probably replace the carb to intake gasket this weekend

oh, and no i haven't sprayed carb cleaner around it yet but will do that this weekend. it runs fine and smooth even with one bolt holding the carb on.

Have you sprayed carb cleaner around all of the intake manifold connections?

When did you last adjust your valves?

i think the carbeureator is loading up but i want to make sure. the bus if
you are trucking along and you let off the gas it will eventually backfire
not instantly but eventually. at first i thought exhaust leak so i replaced
my riser gaskets and checked all the bolts on the entire exhaust system this
past weekend and there is no sign of anything loose or any exhaust leaks.

here is what it does:

you mash the gas then let off and it dies when it's in normal...you start it
back up and it will idle fine you rev the engine and the rpms will go up
then you let off the gas and it just slowly dies.

this has started every since i put the j-tubes and merged header on it.

is it loading up or is it a jetting issue or do i have an exhaust leak
somewhere that i have missed?

oh i have also checked all vacuum leak possibilities. retightened the rubber
boots that hook up to the intake checked the bolts on the carbeurator etc.
