Yeah Denis, I agree. One way to handle the problem is to give "Best" aircooled and "Best" watercooled, but personally I was very disappointed that a New Beetle won best of show.

I had fun at Tulsa. it was, probably, about the same size as Paul's last one. I got there pretty early on Friday (it is only about two hours from my house), I DROVE MURRAY all the way there and back. He is running better than ever. I think Sammy arrived next. He took the Bakery Bus off his trailer and drove it to our campsite, left it in our care. Andrew and Debbie and cute little Emily showed up (Andrew won second place), then Steve and Sharon and Dennis Holbrook (they all won trophies). Adan was there, he won, too. I didn't win diddly.

A New Beetle won best in show. I think that everyone but the New Beetle people would agree that a New Beetle should not win Best In Show, but how do you prevent it? If I put countless hours of labor and a considerable amount of money restoring and customizing a 40 year old car, I can't accept losing to a one or two year old car with a nice paint job. But is it fair to take a class of entry and exclude them from some prizes? Should they be told up front that they are not eligible? Should all shows separate water cooled from aircooled? That would exclude Megasquirt boy, Chuck, and I know how hard he has worked to bring back a 30 year old car. It would also exclude Mark. So, I wouldn't support a complete break.

I just don't know.
