We are spending the night tomorrow night in San Simeon.  After a long layover
at the Big Sur.

When I was a West Coast Hippy, we would travel down 101, The PCH is beautiful
but slow, and I was more of a country bumpkin who liked the City (San
Francisco) but not for more than a day. The real hippies who were not on the
news were just living in the woods.

When we went South to the City I would always overshoot and end up in Santa
Cruz. I could go to the City and get back in a day. If you want to see a
tourist spot without the tourists, go see the Campus of UC Santa Cruz. It is a
college campus under redwoods and huge cedar trees.

San Simeon will be on your left a little North of Santa Barbara

Well, as noted elsewhere, it is not hot on the CA coast.  Now if I can just
figure out how to get back to Texas without getting burnt to a crisp; or maybe
just stay in CA till December.

We made a couple of hundred miles today, from Ft Bragg to Sant Cruz on the
coast highway and across the San Francisco Bay Bridge.  Had lunch in the park
under the bridge.

And for all you water pumper types:  I have figured out why there are not many
Vanagons in TX, they are all in CA.  I have never seen so many Vanagons in my
life.  We have a couple in the cruise, but I must have seen another 50 being
driven by civilian types up and down the coast highway.

More tomorrow.  We have two more days to complete the cruise and make the show
on Saturday in Ventura.

You guys in Texas stay cool.  And that goes for you and Brad too Denis.
