I will have to check the Bentley manual when I get home tonight to find out
what the torque is suppose to be.

It's odd because I'm sure the gasket was replaced approximately 10,000 miles
ago when the tranny was upgraded with a different gearing ratio for the
subie conversion.

I noticed the paint around the lip was uneven--and possible allowing a
leak--so I sanded the whole pan and repainted it with high-heat, ceramic
paint; the only paint on hand that was impervious to chemicals. The pan is
Ford red now. Kind of geeky if you look underneath but who cares? It now has
a smooth lip. . .Freedom's tranny is now quite eloquent.

Anyway, does anyone know the torque settings for the pan bolts?

I think one was over tightened so I don't know if it was the rough paint
edges or an over-tightend nut that was allowing the leak.

BTW: I'm surprised there are only 4 bolts on the pan. It is long enough to
warrant a six-bolt pattern, especially given the Greman reputation of
over-engineering.
