It doesn't matter if it's a 1946 Ford tractor. The light comes from the generator or alternator. The generator/alternator gets it's energy by putting significant drag on the engine when it engages. That drag causes drops in fuel efficiency in the same way that an air conditioner does. If you have ever had a generator on a bicycle then you know just how much energy it takes to run one tiny bulb. When you engage the generator it's suddenly like you're peddling uphill. Everything a car (or bus) does, from rear defrosters to windshield wipers is ultimately getting it's power from gasoline, just like a bicycle generator draws power from one's legs. Just changing dash lights won't do much, but every little thing adds up and brings us a little bit closer to healthier planet. Just sayin' ;) --- On Sat, 4/9/11, whocanduncan1@xxxxxxxxx <whocanduncan1@xxxxxxxxx> wrote: From: whocanduncan1@xxxxxxxxx <whocanduncan1@xxxxxxxxx> Subject: [tcb] Re: The Best LED Dash Lights, Finally To: "TCB" <tcb@xxxxxxxxxxxxx> Date: Saturday, April 9, 2011, 12:06 PM For hybrid cars maybe? Certainly not for good ole analog, fossil fuel buses. These bad boys are twice as bright as all the rest yet still not too bright. They are just right. It is really nice to have everything so well lit for a change! They are at the cool end of the spectrum so the light is snow-white. The best part is they are only $2.44 a pair, no tax and free shipping! I shoulda bought 50 of them and sold them for 5 bucks each in Fredericksburg. 8^) They're from a company in China that I buy stuff from all the time. The prices are great but it's always 4-6 weeks for delivery. Considering their prices it's worth the wait. gigs-ryj3p-2294669467@xxxxxxxxxxxxxx They are polarized, so before you put your dash back together, wait to see which ones you have to turn around first. Next I'll be upgrading my interior lights and my brakes and turn signals. I read it actually makes a significant difference in your gas mileage. We'll see. It probably wont be that significant unless I do the headlights too, but those suckers are over $100 each, so forget that. No virus found in this message.
