We have one but it was here at home- not with us- Steve has an idea to
shorten ours slightly about 4" just enough where it can be bolted up under
the bus to carry with us. But thanks for the offer Sammie- we have a newly
rebuilt engine in the 71 convertible that we never drive so we'll pull it
and put it in the bus for now when we get it home.

As to bus tow bars: I broke down and bought one that Charles Ingram is
making. They are the nicest ones I have seen. He designed these things and
started selling them for $200 then went to $220. I don't know what he is
trying to get for them now. Basically he was trying to sell them at swap
meets and took one ad out on the Samba. Supposedly Kelly in Arlington was
stocking some of them. But Charles only lives probably about 5 miles from
you Sharon and his phone # is 817-353-0202. I'm not real sure I like to
recommend anyone deal with him but he does have a really nice tow bar and
tries very hard to be helpful.
Disadvantage to his (or any) bus tow bar is that they are very large, heavy
and cumbersome. Not sure you want to drive around on long trips carrying
one in your bus. They take up a LOT of space.
If you need to borrow mine to get your bus home you are welcome to use it.

will go to Chucks tonight and tow the camper home.
We were running along just great when we lost just a little power, tried to
find a place to pull off but by the time we did- the engine was blown- a
hole thru the top of the case under the intake.
I still don't think towing/trailering is the answer for us though carrying a
tow bar with us is a necessity from here on out, we could not find one
anywhere, even aircooled VW part dealers do not sell them. Don't leave home
without it. This was our options - tow it to New Orleans and come back for
it, tow it and rent a truck to tow it home - we would have done that if we
would have had a tow bar.
Larry Parrots son - Micheal-was also trying to help us, he lives in New
Orleans and sells new Dodge cars- we were 36 miles from him, he found us a
rental truck but we could not locate a tow bar anywhere even tried AIRS.
It was so nice of Chuck and Denis to go out of their way to rescue us- we're
going to owe them big time for a long time..
That being said I'm buying premium AAA today- its only $103, covers 200
miles of towing and one day car rental. Hagerty only gives us 50 miles
towing- that is not enough.
