Savanna is a wonderful place, It is touristy on the road that is on the water.
Walk away from the water and there are some great little shops and beautiful
little squares and old homes. Some homes are open. There is a ferry to the
other side of the river and it is way cheap and way cool. And, of course, the
food is Great to bad. The “dinner” houses, like Paula Dean’s Lady and Sons, are
the big draw, it is a big living room and they bring out BIG plates of stuff to
a big round table, and everybody at the table stabs the food they want. There
are many many great places to eat there.

I would be sad if I hadn’t seen Savanna.

P.S. During the civil war Sherman’s March To The Sea was to end at Savanna.
Sherman had a policy to burn anything in their path, to slice through the Heart
of the South and cut it in half. When the army that had burned Atlanta to the
ground approached Savanna, they were met by a committee of women who stopped
them and asked Sherman not to burn the city, that they surrendered..
Sherman agreed. That’s why you get to see the charming old buildings all around.

Subject: [tcb] Savanna, GA

Savanna recently hit the radar for my yearly "Once In A Lifetime" trip.

Is anyone familiar with bus happenings in the area? Is it the Blue Moon group
that encompasses the area?

Any suggestions regarding the area? Best time of year to visit? B&B's? Sites to
see?

Wanna go, too?

All feedback is appreciated.
