Well, we didn't make it to Big Bend. Again. We both came down with a cold on
Christmas so we wanted to go somewhere that had electricity. Ahhh, heater. And
we wanted to be close to home in case our colds developed into something worse.
Thanks for all the great tips on the area, Julie. We will definitely use the
information. I am working on scheduling another attempt in the spring sometime
before the heat sets in. Sorry we missed your call, Dan. We had already
unplugged.

We stayed at Bastrop S.P. the first night and really didn't like it. Too
crowded, too many people, too noisy, campsites too close to one another. Oh,
did I mention too many people? And the golf course and swimming pool were
closed. Can't imagine the park when they are open.

We decided to move it on down the lane to Buescher State Park. What a
surprise! It's now my favorite, local spot. I like it so much that I'm not
telling anyone where it's located. You will never get it's location out of me.
Stay away. Don't ever camp there. I mean it.

It was a cold for a few days but it made for nice daytime hiking and sitting
next to a campfire at night. When the wood was gone, we turned on the heater,
cuddled up and watched movies 'til the wee hours of the morning. We also
visited Monument Hill and Kreische Brewery State Historic Sites in La Grange.
Very nice day-only parks.

Didn't see one bus the whole time. We got a few envious looks from dads that
were pulling huge 5th wheels, though. I guess they liked how we broke camp in
minutes. Easy in, easy out.

'Nuff said about our anniversary. ;)

Next trip: BULLIGRAS! See everyone there.
