Would that mean then that the type IV is twice as good? -----Original Message----- From: sammie smith <bugcollections@xxxxxxxxxxxxx> Sent: Tuesday, May 13, 2008 7:45 AM To: tcb@xxxxxxxxxxxxx Subject: [tcb] Re: OT - Type 3 Dub rant The real problem with a Type III is that it has to many ones. Subtract one and you have ....Type II. Well they were at the powdercoaters for 7 months. This is great, I'll just replace the chromies. My first VW Bug had a set and I just gave them away. These are two piece Magnesium / Steel construction. Definitely a rare wheel. Well, the Formula Vees interfere with the front brake caliper and are not able to fit on the rear drums without spacers. So I order up some spacers that are 1/2" wide (twiddle my thumbs) and pay the guy. I measured 3 times and was sure that was the size. After two weeks I get my spacers. Well, now I need longer wheel bolts, I just got them today. Went out, put them on. Hey wait, the spacers are too narrow, I need one inch spacers?!?!? Ugh, On to CIP1 to order the spacers. But I'll be able to run the fronts until the other spacers arrive. Oh but first, get out the grinder and clearance the calipers a bit... Let's see I've been working on getting these wheels on the car since last August. Just be patient.... Patience is a virtue.. Patience my a** I'm going to kill something... Oh well, they're purdy in black powdercoat with polished outers and clearcoat.. Here's a pic of what they look like sandblasted. http://www.amayesing.com/images/vwparts/FormulaV.jpg Never let it be said that simplest thing like changing wheels can be a challenge on a Type 3.
