They had a lot more entries than that last year. The number I heard was 450 + another 100 aircoolers that didn't get in the show/show and + another 100 water coolers that didn't get in the show/show: and that was all at $25 per car: Plus they had mega spectators that charged to get in per head and again to park. Don't know what they charged the vendors but there were lots of them both new and swap meet. Their gross receipts from this thing have to be in excess of $25,000. Wild guess: 40 new parts vendors @ $200 per and 100 swap meet vendors @ $50 per. Multiply that out. Add in what they get from concessions, swap meeters, vendors, T-shirts, etc. and they can afford to rent a bigger place and more people. ----- Original Message ----- From: Will Wood To: tcb@xxxxxxxxxxxxx Sent: Monday, November 19, 2007 3:19 PM Subject: [tcb] Re: OK OK The Kupkake Chronicles Well, putting on a shin dig (sp?) of that size is always difficult. It was packed to the walls in 04 which is the only year I've attended. The people were friendly but it could be a case of Eureka II starting up. Some of these things get too popular and the folks putting it on may have distinct growing pains. One day, I'm sure, the TXC will have about 200 more entries than planned show up. That's not because of bad planning but because of a good time. I read the story and I see how it can get out of hand. Old Hippy, firey red heads, money involved.. Clearly the gate folks came from the Leona Helmsley school of charm. Florida folks are just not used to dealing with middle coasters.. ;-)
